When Blueprint is enabled on Shopify POS, products with required personalisation can show both Add to Cart and Customise by Blueprint. This page explains the limitation and the correct behaviour.

<h2 data-pm-slice="1 3 []" id="isPasted">What happens in Shopify POS</h2>If Blueprint is enabled in Shopify POS, a product with a template that requires personalisation can show two buttons when a POS staff member searches for that product:<ul><li>Add to Cart &#x2014; Shopify&apos;s native POS button</li><li>Customise by Blueprint &#x2014; the Blueprint button for collecting personalisation</li></ul><hr>WARNINGThis is a known Shopify POS limitation. It cannot currently be prevented or overridden by Blueprint.<hr><h2 id="what-each-button-does">What each button does</h2><h3 id="add-to-cart">Add to Cart</h3>If the POS user taps Add to Cart, Shopify can add the product to the cart without opening Blueprint.That means required personalisation is not enforced through this native Shopify button.<h3 id="customise-by-blueprint">Customise by Blueprint</h3>If the POS user taps Customise by Blueprint, Blueprint opens the product&apos;s personalisation flow.When the template includes required personalisation options, the item cannot be added to cart until the required selections have been made.<hr>INFOIn other words, Blueprint enforces required personalisation only when the product is opened through Customise by Blueprint.<hr><h2 id="recommended-staff-workflow">Recommended staff workflow</h2>For any product that must be personalised before checkout, staff should use Customise by Blueprint instead of Shopify&apos;s native Add to Cart button.1. Search for the product -&#xA0;In Shopify POS, search for the product as usual.2. Choose Customise by Blueprint -&#xA0;If both buttons are shown, tap Customise by Blueprint, not Add to Cart.3. Complete the required personalisation -&#xA0;Select all required personalisation options in the Blueprint flow.4. Add the item to cart -&#xA0;Once the required selections are completed, Blueprint will allow the item to be added to the cart.<hr>TIPIf a product should never be sold without personalisation, train POS staff to always look for and use Customise by Blueprint.<hr><h2 id="important-limitation-to-share-with-your-team">Important limitation to share with your team</h2><ul><li>Add to Cart is controlled by Shopify POS.</li><li>Customise by Blueprint is controlled by Blueprint.</li><li>Blueprint cannot block Shopify&apos;s native Add to Cart button in this POS search result scenario.</li><li>Required personalisation is only enforced when the sale starts through Customise by Blueprint.</li></ul><h2 id="when-to-expect-this-behaviour">When to expect this behaviour</h2>You are most likely to see this when:<ul><li>Blueprint has already been enabled in Point of Sale</li><li>The app is added in the POS Customise screen</li><li>The product is linked to a Blueprint template</li><li>That template includes required personalisation fields or choices</li></ul>
