Add option values manuallyUpdated a day ago

Add option values in Blueprint

When you build or edit a personalisation template in Templates, some product option types let you add a list of values for customers to choose from. For example, if your option name is Choose a Colour, your option values might be Red, Yellow, and Blue.

In Blueprint, these values are added in the Option Values section of the option editor. This guide covers the manual methods available there: adding values one at a time, using Bulk Add, and using Bulk Add via CSV.

NOTE

You will only see Option Values for option types that use selectable values, such as Checkboxes (Multi-select), Radio Buttons, and Dropdown List.

Before you start

Open Templates, then open an existing template or click Create Template. Add a product option with a value-based Option type, or open an existing one to edit it.

Inside the option editor, make sure Add manually is selected in the Option Values section rather than Use Data Source.

Ways to add option values

Add one value at a time

Use this method when you only need to add a few values or when each value needs to be reviewed individually as you go.

1. Open the option - In Templates, open the template and then open the product option you want to edit.

2. Go to Option Values - In the Option Values section, confirm Add manually is selected.

3. Click Add another value - Click + Add another value to create a new row.

4. Enter the value - Type the customer-facing value, such as Red, Yellow, or Blue. Use the status dropdown to set the value to Active if it should be available to customers.

5. Repeat as needed - Keep clicking + Add another value until you have added the full list.

Each row can also include more settings from Advanced options if needed.

TIP

Use the same naming style your customers see on the storefront. For example, use Light Blue instead of an internal stock or merchandising label.

Bulk add values by pasting text

Use Bulk Add when you already have a list of values and want to add them quickly without creating each row one by one.

1. Open Bulk Add - In the Option Values section, click Bulk Add.

2. Enter your values - In the Bulk Add Option Values pop-up, enter values using either of these formats:

  • one value per line

  • multiple values on one line separated by commas

3. Handle values that contain commas - If a value itself contains a comma, wrap that value in double quotes.

4. Add the values - Click Add to create the option values.

Accepted Bulk Add formats

  • One per line:

    1Red
    2Yellow
    3Blue
    4
    5
  • Comma-separated on one line:

    1Red, Yellow, Blue
    2
    3
  • Values containing commas:

1"Red, White & Blue", Yellow, Green

WARNING

If a value contains a comma and is not wrapped in double quotes, Blueprint may split it into separate values.

Bulk add values with a CSV file

Use Bulk Add via CSV when you want to import a larger list or include extra value settings in the file.

1. Open the CSV importer - In the Option Values section, click Bulk Add via CSV.

2. Review the CSV format - The pop-up explains that you should use one row per option value. It also lists the available column headers and what each one should contain.

3. Download the example file - Click Download example CSV if you want a template with the correct columns.

4. Prepare your file - Add each option value as its own row, then save the file as .csv or .txt.

5. Upload the file - Click Add file, choose your file, and complete the import.

CSV columns available in Blueprint

The Bulk Add Option Values via CSV window shows the supported headers for that option. Based on the current Blueprint importer, these include:

  • value — customer-facing label for the option value. This is required.

  • active — use 1 for active or 0 for inactive. The importer also accepts status instead of active.

  • tag_orders — use 1 to use this value for automated order tagging, or 0 to turn it off.

  • additional_price — extra price in your shop currency for that value.

  • image_url — public image URL for the value.

  • product_variant — Shopify variant ID or GID to append when this value is chosen.

INFO

If you only need a simple list such as colour names or sizes, Bulk Add is usually the fastest method. If you need to include pricing, images, or variant mapping per value, use Bulk Add via CSV.

Example CSV

1value,active,additional_price
2Red,1,0
3Yellow,1,0
4Blue,1,0
5
6

Things to check after adding values

  • Make sure each value is spelled exactly as you want customers to see it.

  • Check that the correct values are marked Active.

  • Open Advanced options on any row that needs additional settings.

  • Review the storefront output after saving the template, especially if values affect price or variant selection.

Limits and helpful notes

  • The Option Values section shows a limit of 100 values per option.

  • You can reorder values in the list after adding them.

  • You can remove unwanted values using the delete icon on the value row.
